SHACKLETON’S ENDURANCE
The photographs of Frank Hurley, 1914-1917
A platinum-palladium limited portfolio published by Salto Ulbeek in association with the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) and the Scott Polar Research Institute, University of Cambridge.
This publication brings together for the first time all of the Frank Hurley’s original Endurance negatives held in the collections of the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) in London and the Scott Polar Research Institute (SPRI) in the University of Cambridge, through the publication of a limited edition platinum-palladium printed portfolio published by Salto Ulbeek in association with the RGS and SPRI.
Comprehensive in scope, the portfolio contributes a new appreciation of Hurley’s Endurance photographs and will secure the material and visual legacy of Shackleton’s expedition in a way that only the drawing together of the RGS and SPRI negatives and the use of the platinum-palladium process can guarantee. The portfolio comprises a specially commissioned essay by the Antarctic historian Meredith Hooper.
